Hey I'm new to Reef2Reef and I joined because I've got a huge algae problem. It's not hair algae, just run of the mill annoying green algae. I'll try and get a picture, but I just cleaned as much of it out of the tank as i could. My tank isn't new by any means, but it is neglected. I just had a baby 2 months ago and it's been super hard trying to take care of her and the tank. I've debated selling it but I just can't, i love my tank too much (even though it's relatively boring). I haven't had my water tested, although I can bet it's going to be pretty high in phosphates and generally all over the place. Any suggestions on what to do? All would be welcome. I'll try and get pictures soon!

Welcome! Congrats on the baby! :D

It helps to know the water parameters. Depending on the levels will depend on a course of action.
Tank age?
Water volume?
Tank peripherals?
Sump?
How many fish?

Don't be surprised if you test and get 0 no3 and po4. first step is to id the algae. When you can, post some clear photos.

I suppose details are overwhelming. Remove rock, peroxide on, rasp off, Danielson.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef and congratulation to the new born.
If you could please get us the numbers. If you do not have time I would say you have some dirty water feeding the algae. I water change is good but not a lot. As you may know you will have to export the nutrients and some of the best ways are carbon dosing and GFO. Now since you have some new distraction the simplest way would to be to start dosing some Red Sea NoPOX it will take about two weeks to start seeing the difference.

Depending on your equipment and numbers we could also make some different recommendation that will be a better long therm solution;)
