HELP! ALGAE PROBLEMS

Hey R2R, need some major help here. I have what I think is Dino's. I will post pics at the bottom. My take is a 50 gallon rimless with a radion gen 4. This algae is on everything, rocks, sand, glass and pumps. I do have 5 tiger trochus and 5 hermits as coc. The snails are eating it but it just grows rt back. I just tested nitrate and phosphate and both came out 0. I would love to rid this stuff from my tank, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Looks like cyano, i used red slime remover without any ill effects about 7 months ago. I also turned the lights off for 2 days during the treatment. Did a 30% water change 5 days after treatment and a 10% water change every other day for a week after that and ran carbon. Completely solved the red slime issue.

I agree it looks like cyno. I just treated with chemiclean a week ago with no affect. I only treated the tank for 49 gallon and I think I'm closer to 50. So maybe I try the chemi again.

I would try treating for the full volume i slightly over treated mine when i did it. Leave your light off for the first few days of the treatment. Make sure you are not running carbon during the treatment. I also pulled the cup off my skimmer and just let it overflow to keep water oxygenated. Mine wasn't as bad as yours looks you may want to do a water change first to suck out as much as possible prior to the treatment.

What else are you feeding the tank. Aminos, mb7, vitaminc nopox carbon dosing
Are you on rodi water?

I'm not putting anything else in the tank as of now. And yes Rodi from lfs.

I will do full treatment tomorrow as well as a 3 day blackout.

This stuff comes back so fast I'm starting to lose coral. I blow it off and it comes rt back.

How old is your tank? You aren't getting any readings because the cyano is eating those nutrients up. Do chemiclean after you exhausted everything else. What is your bioload (livestock)? How often are you feeding, and what are you feeding.

I'd vacuum as much off as you can, and blow it off with a turkey baster. Do a 20% water change, then do a blackout for 48hr minimum.

By blackout I mean completely. Cover the tank with a blanket or sheet. The corals will be fine.

Well the black out worked very well to take out the algae. Unfortunately I used a blanket to cover the tank while I was out of town and came back to a tank that was 93 degrees. Everything died except for a royal gramma and a crab. I guess a black sheet would have been a better idea.
