generally diatoms don't affect fish, depending on what fish they are it may provide a secondary food source. Just my .02, its up to you though

Yeah, I actually try to grow them a little bit. Lol. Hopefully I can get a few going so I can get copepods, so then I can get a green mandarin dragonet!
