I got a small golf ball sized anemone 7 months ago and it has now turned into about 13. The local fish store said that they would buy them from me. I just need to get them out. It’s making it hard to clean and get rid of the aptasia. Almost every time I stick my arm in all of the large anemones wrap around and it feels like they are gonna eat my arm off haha.

Any and all deserves much thanks.

Wow. What does it feel like when they wrap around you? Don't they sting?

Not every time but more than not. It feels like it just feels like a ton of worms that can hold on. They can grab my arm it’s really hard to explain. Haha

Remove the rock, hold it updside down over a bucket with tank water or the tank itself, and use your fingernail to SLOWLY and GENTLY massage and pry the foot up. If you go to fast it will tear and you will know it, their guts are white and stringy.

put ice in a ziplock back, slowly ice the foot of the anemone. it will come loose, dig your fingernail underneath it and peel it off. done this many times no casualties. however, if the anemone's foot is inside a hole this method does not work so well. i have accidentally teared one before and it recovered no issues they are pretty tough

I’ll have to try the ice method. Do you think a ziplock or just freezing rodi water.

i have done both. ziplock is easier, as my ice cubes are shaped in a way so that its easier for me to just put them in the corner of the bag then onto the foot. might be different for you though

I've found some colors sting a lot harsher than others which is weird. The stings dont really hurt, more of an annoyance. It's definitely not like a fish biting you, sharp jab like that. You cant really feel it, and while your hand is still under water you can hardly feel where it got you. Once you take your hand out of the water though, it feels like....an irritation. Like someone wiped 150 grit sand paper aggressively against your skin for a second. I've never really felt it on my hands, but the underside of your forearm you'll feel it. It goes away after 10-15 min.

I have one bta, green with purple tips. Man that guy stings to the point that I feel it under water. I've got huge quadracolors that wont hardly sting at all.

Keep them, anemone only tanks are awesome!
I have a bunch of high end stuff but will one day have an anemone tank!
There amazing!

I am super jealous. What a cool tank! I have been debating about doing a setup like that

Thank you. If your near Boise Idaho come grab an anemone. I won’t miss them haha

I should just go get like 2 more pairs of clowns and just let them go crazy
Absolutely, one of the locals around here has a 90 gallon dominated anemone reef with a bunch of clowns with eggs everywhere. The clowns are spawning and the nems have split everywhere. There's at least 60 nems in his tank! It's one of the coolest things ever!
