Woke up this morning to my two BTA’s looking like this. Not sure if they are dead or dying, heard that if dying will destroy my tank. Any help please!!!

Not happy, definitely not dead. How long have you had them? How old is your tank? Any changes lately?

My tank is about 6 months old. Had them about one month. Feed them twice a week with pe mysis shrimp. My Duncan coral is looking deflated this morning as well.

is this the first time you have seen them like this with lights out, coming on? Mine will close up pretty good at lights out and as lights come on look funny.

Last night they were closed up but I have never seen them look like this. My wife’s BTA in her tank looks amazing and we got them from the same lfs and same time.

What is in the tank with it? HAve your parameters had any swings lately? If duncans are acting funny too any other corals not opening?

Just checked aminos and it’s at 0, nitrates are at 20 but I can’t ever seem to get them down. I have a hob refugium with cheato in it to help control nitrates but still at 20.

I wouldn't worry about the nem -I would worry about the likely "global" situation going on in your tank if all corals are affected. Nems are just more sensitive and the thing you picked up on first. Can you post all your parameters currently and what they usually are at? Any fish or inverts missing?

Have you checked ammonia? I would start with a test of all the basics, temp, salinity, ammonia, ph etc, and see how everything looks.

Ammonia 0
Nitrates 20
Ph 8.0
Calcium 500

those are all within normal parameters for this tank. Also running a kessil 150w

Began my reply and realized forgot to actually post it. So, parameters seems fine now, but could have had an issue over night or recently. Water change is good, match temp too.
If a contaminant or something is the problem, water change and carbon will help.

From my experience when a nem deflates like that they rarely make a comeback. Usually continue to slowly die over a few weeks or even months
