Help Angelfish!

I was recently told by my local fish store that my fish have ich but the angel fish looks like something different. He is all discolored and not using his right fin

I’m guessing velvet with an infection at the base of the fun which is common in large angels (both in that order).

I can’t see much from the pics but hiding from light, discolor, blotchy color loss, heavy breathing, spots or dusting (not always present), cryptic behavior, etc.

I agree it does appear to be/sound like velvet. Pics are very hard to see.

Have you seen any white dots on him previously? Something (parasites, worms) looks to be eating away at him, and now I think a secondary infection has also set in.

That looks like my angels did with velvet and possibly an infection now as well as @Humblefish mentioned.

Thankyou guys for your help. What do you recommend is the best way to prevent fish disease in a tank?

Proper QT for all new arrivals. This includes anything that came from another "wet" system that isn't your own.

Fish go through treatment in one QT, then corals and inverts just need a separate QT that they can hang out in for 76 days when you get them berfore placing in DT.

Fallow period of 76 days for the DT initially to rid it of any parasites.
