Can anyone suggest a feeder that works with a closed top tank? If not, any other suggestions? I have a Red Sea Max 130D and will be doing some traveling for a few days at a time here and there.

Thank you!

What fish do you have or plan on having? What is the maximum amount of time that you will be away?

Just starting out, I have 2 clowns and 3 Peppermint shrimp in my 34 Gal Red Sea. I will be a away for 4 days on one trip and 5 days on another. Thanks

is the tank completely closed? Surely there must be some openings. In any case, what i did for mine was insert a relatively small funnel into one of the openings and had the auto feeder dump into the funnel.

Thanks Bob, thats a great though but it is a closed system. The only opening is for the sump chamber in the back

Wow I've been wondering the same thing. Thanks bob the whole funnel idea is awesome!!!

Killer, good point. I very rarely need to top off my tank, I can always have my neighbor check and top off with ro/di.

I have the Ehiem autofeeder, Amazon.com : EHEIM Everyday Fish Feeder Programmable Automatic Food Dispenser : Pet Self Feeders : Pet Supplies , and it works OK. I say OK because I do like the options that it has but it tends to be inconsistent with the amount that it drops in. I use small pellets and sometimes it drops in just the right amount and then the next time it dumps in a ton. I came in one day and the water was covered in pellets. Needless to say, I don't use it anymore but could play with it more figure out a better way to make it work.

If I'm away for a few days I will add ro/di bringing down the salinity I adjust the cup and it will stop the sump from running too low as well as stoping the salinity from going to high. If I go on vac for a week or more I will def have someone come and maintain it.

Someone just told me the other day to just remove the cup bring the water level up and salinity lower. Or bring it up with ro so the salinity is lower. Feeding the fish I'm sure they can go a few days with out food. Maybe have a friend come over and feed them
