Help before I add this to the tank

I bought a tiger pistol(I thought) at the fish store. Got home, and it doesn't have large claws like a pistol. Looks like it has spears. The store is an hour away. What is it, is it safe for my tank, or should I take it back?

Hi, can’t really say if this shrimp is Reef safe, most are, but personally I would take it back and get what you asked for.

It is definitely not a tiger pistol shrimp.

I’ve tried searching for an ID but can’t find one.

I would not put it in your display.

If you cannot return it today, I would put it in a container with small holes in it, and put it in your sump until you can return it or get a positive ID and decide if you want to keep it.

It MAY be a Babaulti Stripe Shrimp (AKA Zebra shrimp) that was mistaken as a Zebra Mantis shrimp.

I called the store they said it was a tiger pistol that lost its claws when it molted. Still was a little iffy, but put it in the display. Unfortunately it was eaten instantly by a blue spotted watchman goby. I called the store back. Told them that it was eaten since it did not have its defense mechanisms. She gave me full store credit. Unfortunate ending for the shrimp, but good ending for me. Now to catch this blue spotted watchman pair and trade them for yellow watchman gobies
