Hi I came home today from work and noticed my ocellaris nemo has some. Black spots on him. He was in 8 weeks qt with copper and my tank was fallow for that time. He has. Been in the display for a month now. Eats like crazy hard to get pics cause he goes nuts when he sees me

No new additions these clowns are the only fish in the tank

Spots on clownfish could point to parasites, but in my experience with clowns their coloration can slightly shift, and markings are not uncommon. I have a pair of black ocellaris clowns and the female has a white splotch on her face.

I had black spots. Was told “black ick” or fluk worms. Treated for months with many different treatments. Nothing helped. Felt I was tormenting my pair of clowns so I Finally just threw them back in the display and they still have spots. But no other noticeable symptoms. I could never figure out what it was, but it’s been a year and no change good or bad. No other fish has these spots either. Very odd, racked my brain until it hurt until gave up.
Good luck. Sorry if I offer no help, but just wanted to share my experience. Take care.

One thing his poop had been white and stringy so maybe he has a worm. I was able to order prazipro on eBay. But will take a month to get here so I hope he stays good

What corals do you have? Is it possibly a coral or nem sting?

We see this from time to time in clownfish, I just call it "idiopathic melanin deposition" AKA black spots that show up for no reason (grin). It isn't black ich (turbellarian worm). It could be a reaction to being stung by a coral.

The white stringy feces is another issue. It can be a sign of internal flagellate protozoans. What are you feeding the fish? New Life Spectrum makes a pelleted food, Hex shield that is formulated to treat this. Sometimes, feeding adult frozen brine shrimp (not as a sole diet) serves as a purgative and can flush the flagellates out of the gut.

Happened to my clown, had them for several month. They are gone now with no treatment. Fish never looked stressed while the spots were there.‍♂️

I’ve never seen my clowns go anywhere near a coral or even the tank bottom. Corals I have are zoas. Duncan Xenia acans hydnophora Montis mushrooms gsp. Thanks everyone for your help. I’m not sure what it is but my clown nemo has otherwise been perfectly. Fine I just worried after having velvet last spring and having to start over.
