Hello, I just recently purchased this gorgeous pair of swallowtails for my first fish in the saltwater world (don’t worry they have a nice 200g system to enter after the qt period). They are currently in my qt, and I noticed one of their stomachs was slightly sunken in and the male is a little similar but couldn’t fully tell.

Is this their normal body shape due to how their fins lay? I’m going to start feeding heavier over the coming days just incase that’s the problem, but i worry they might have a parasite.

She is just thin, like newly import fish that did get feed in transport from capture to you. She likely lost some weight if not a lot of weight.
She will be fine when she start to eat and you feed her a lot.
Beautiful fish, good luck with them. I love my Watanabei pair.

Just feed average. Don’t feed to much because no matter how much you feed it doesn’t mean she will eat it. Put in a variety of food to find her likings. It’s very easy to overfeed in a qt an have ammonia and phosphates jump really quick. Feed nori (try a bunch of different colors), mysis (could get some angelixer or Selcon to soak the mysis in) could try flakes as well

I have 2 females. Yours looks good to me. Did you get them both from the same place? Are the a bonded pair?
They are good eaters, even in QT normally.

Ok thank you for all the help to answer your questions they are a bonded pair I got from the same store. They are both eating rly well but their stomach is still a little sunken so idk maybe it’s just their shape. They might have internal parasites but I doubt it. The tank is also a 5x2x2

How are they doing now? Yes I think a 5 x 2 x 2 is good enough for a pair.
They are both doing well, and are eating a lot. Still a little thin though. I’ve talked to a bunch of people and they all thought the tank size is sufficient. I also have a good scape for swimming room.

Good to know. Any aggression?
Not too much but I expected a little squabbling due to them being a pair in a smallish qt tank. Both are still a little thin since they both have internal parasites but they are doing fine and gc should easily get rid of that.

May I ask how you diagnosed they have internal parasites, have you identified the species of parasite(s) and what medication you are giving to treat it.

Have you seen their poop? If it’s white and stringy that’s usually a sign of internal parasites.
That is generally only true if the fish have stopped eating as well. If they are still taking food then the cause can be due to any number of reasons including stress, diet change, medication and/or water conditions.

The white stringy poop is why I thought it; they both are eating very well but still a little thin. I’m going to use api general cure bound to good; but I was gonna do that either way as my qt protocol
