Dude. Just leave her in there. Feed it well. And keep an eye. Removing may stress it to a full blown out break our or worst..

Thanks, I realized this, no way I can get it out without killing it and the whole tank..BUT....

Wait until the tank and room has been dark for a couple of hours. Using a small flashlight, locate the fish and shine the light into its eyes. It will mesmerize the fish allowing you to net it.

Hi again, midday here. Same as yesterday, no more spots, about the same I would say and all other fish fine. Everybody eating well, garlic soaked frozen food. I think I will try the treatment of Seachem metroplex+focus+garlicguard mixed with food. According to Seachem, it is absolutely reef safe and will kill parasites including ich if administered daily for a month. Anyone has some experience with this?

no spots good thing happy reefing

Thank you....what does it mean that the rest have no spots? Is it not possible that they get them later? Should they already have if this was an ich outbreak?

still think just stressed hippo 90% of time harmless in thie blood stream
would hold off on med unless other signs keep with garlic

Do not panic. Observe. I would urge you to read Big G's link "Ich eradication v. management" twice. Or three times. All the questions you've had so far are answered in that thread. Learn about the parasite. Make an educated decision on whether you want to manage or eradicate. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I am speaking from experience. If you want to stop panicking, read that carefully. It will tell you precisely what to do and what decisions you need to make. There is no magic bullet. And if it is "just" ich, count yourself lucky. Velvet is much worse. And my two cents, you should observe and confirm this is not just HLLE, which can appear as spotty discoloration (but not the raised "salt" spots of ich).

Thank you. I did read the thread ....twice. I think at this point, I am trying to manage ich, ....if it is ich and not stress or something, as the other fish seem to be fine. As for HLLE, it isn't, because the spots on the tang are raised, like salt specks. But not more than yesterday, at least not massively more. So, at this point, I am observing. The tang is eating well and swimming well, although it does have flashes. I am still wondering about the Seachem food treatment....Also, as I am really new to this, I am wondering how deadly ich is and how fast it acts/spreads

From my experience and reading, Ich is generally not deadly, and the metroplex only treats secondary bacterial infections. But nothing you can put in a reef display tank will eradicate the parasite. In my experience, observation and careful planning is almost always the best course.

I would prepare for treatment, but hold any treatment until you can positively identify the parasite if any.
As ick develops, your fish may display other signs, like, rapid breathing, glassy eyes, lethargic, stops eating.
Sometimes fish can get ick, but if strong, settled and well fed, can fight it off.

Ick is not a fast killer.

Always diagnose accurately before settting treatment.

See pic below of my Blue, see those spots, had them on and off for years and I have had no deaths at all In more than 3 years.

Hi thanks! This is exactly what mine looks like! So, this is ich isn't it? Or could it be stress spots particular to tangs?

hi eleni 18 how are things looking
Hi, thank you so much for checking up on me! Still no change, spots same in number, all other fish healthy and all eating. I don't exactly know what I should expect or fear at this point? Obviously the worse would be other fish developing spots, but if not...then what?

hi for now just ride it out ,research ,have somewhat plan ready for action, just keep feeding sm amounts multiple times even if 20 min apart for a couple of hours ,best about hour and a half apart ,but just enough fish eat all,no worries until sign on any other fish ,even 1 spot, action time, dori may show less, may show more do not panic, should recede ,clouding of eyes on dory action time, try to avoid looking constantly at tank look at fish when feeding to avoid stress ,that will be hard, hang in there ,going to be fine

Hi all! I wanted to give you an update and say again how grateful I am to all of you and having found this great place full of lovely helpful people. The spots are fading away on the tang, you can barely see them today and none of the others have any spots....yet. So.....can I begin hoping that this is over for now? Also, this goes especially to fishguy and uncle99 who seem really knowledgeable on blue tangs. Do the spots on the tang mean ich or a stressful tang condition? I am asking because from all your information here, I understand that if it is indeed ich, it is here to stay in the tank....does this mean that it can strike again on other fish anytime? It seems strange, because I never had ich before and I have not added any new fish to the tank in the last 2-3 weeks and the pair of clowns I added then was fully quarantined at the LFS-they had them for months before I bought them. So, if it is ich, where did it come from?

hi good news hard to say could go long time ,just pop up and disapper on hippo has in blood will never be 100% of not just popping up for some reason or another ,happy reefing
