Help! Brittle star losing legs rapidly!!

Update: The crab really did the star in today--he's back in the condition he was at the start of this thread, maybe worse. I'm not sure what came over the crab today. Is he hungry? What should I feed him if that's the case?

He killed the brittle star. I was about to save the poor guy when the emerald crab ripped the central disk in two. This is the last straw. I'm getting rid of this little pest.
