Help! Brown mucus on my pulsing Xenia

There is brown stringy mucus-like stuff all over my Xenia. I first noticed the stuff a week ago but now there is a lot more. It even is sticking some of the Xenia shut now.

I’m not sure if the Xenia itself is secreting the mucus or if it is something else.

My Xenia occassionally grow cyanobacteria but it never develops into anything. When I get tired of looking at it and if it’s big enough, I will use tweezers to pluck it off. You could try a turkey baster to gently blow it off.
