Hey all! I had a bubble tip arrive today. It's about the size of a quarter. When it got here The tentacles were bubbly and full....now it looks like this...is it dead? Should I pull it out? I don't have a spare tank to see if it does ok and I don't want to pollute my tank since it's in great shape of it's dead. Help please!!! First photos are current and The last photo is right after acclimation and tank addition.

It’s not dead yet. Bta’s can be quite resilient…..how old is your tank? If you are nervous leaving it in the tank and have a 5 gallon bucket and a small heater, you have a hospital tank. Also if you can add a small powerhead or pump that would be extremely beneficial. You’ll need to do daily water changes since it’s not cycled and has no filtration. Finally, make sure you put something to keep the heater and pump away from the nem (egg crate, crafting mesh, etc)

It has bacterial infection. You need to get ciprofloxacin medication to treat it. The best way to treat it by get a pill of ciprifloxacin and smash it into powdery like. Then used your saltwater in your tank to mixed it with the medication into a small cup. After that get a syringe to injected the medication into the anemone mouth. That is how I cured my inferno anemone, but you better do it quick. You don't want to prolong the wait, or else you have to take it out and do a longer treatment.

It’s not dead but it definitely isn’t doing good. It could be a bacterial infection but only time will tell if that’s the case (if the mouth is gaping and the internals are consistently exposed it’s usually a telltale sign).

It looks like it has some sand near the mouth and tentacles. I’d try to gently blow it off to see if that may be contributing to it not being happy. It could be possible that it tried moving, got stuff on it, and is trying to get it out/off.

BTAs also like rockwork to place their foot in so I’d try moving it to a crevice in the rockwork so that it’s foot has something durable to attach to.

I don't know... that looksvery much like one I had that I tried to save though. I felt too bad to remove it if it might have a chance, and then it died overnight and nuked my tank - lost all my fish and a shrimp... :( I would honestly not risk keeping it but that's just me personally (have bta ptsd now I swear, ugh). I hope yours makes it!
