You're thinking of a calcium reactor. A kalk reactor is not quite the same. I would LOVE a ca reactor but those are quite a bit more involvedi think its alot like speleogensis, CO2 injected into the water creates acidic conditions, due to the creation of carbonic acid. This H2CO3 then reacts with the aragonite (a polymorph of calcite[CaCO3]) to create suspended calcium, and bicarbonate. But I may be wrong, I have never even seen one in action. I'm just a geo-nerd
In short, the argonite dissolves into the water, and the stoney corals extract it from the water

hey andy, im not real sure from the do it yourself standpoint. but I would consider the geo kalk reactor donny sells, i bought mine along time ago from geo and it has worked well. donny has them for the same price basically. I think they are like $250. but Ive been adding tropic marin bio calcium the last several months and have had better results than ever so I dont really know how much the kalk is helping or not. are you building this for the nano or the 125? if its for the nano I would definatly just use the bio calcium
I seriously considered purchasing that.
Speaking of which, I need to talk to you
I'll call
I'm up to help you, but I am not a dyi type person! We can sure try though! LOL!
From what I've seen, they should be fairly simple

I have one made from a pre-fliter houseing that you run from your auto top off. It works good. You are more than welcom to it. I just recently made one from a cheep calicum reactor. If you want it just let me know.
