Help building this sump

Hello everyone, I'm building my first tank (woo). I just bought this pre-owned sump and trying to figure out what is best place to put the pump and stuff (if it really matters). Trying to figure that out then going to deep clean it. Thank you!

Welcome to R2R! It all depends on how you would want your sump! Some people have a fuge some don’t some have ATO and some don’t. There are many DIY sump kits online for purchase as well as templates to get some ideas.

Hmmm...typically with sumps, the overflow drains into one end of the sump, and then the return pump is on the other side. In between you can have a "tech" compartment (protein skimmer, reactors, heaters, etc.), and also a refugium, depending on what you need from the sump.

Like someone else said, water in one side and gets pumped out the other.
Options in between, mechanical filtration, protien skimmer, refugium and more
