I need advice on what to do. I just filled my 120 gallon tank and now the bulk head has a drip between the seal and the glass on the return line going back up to the tank.

I had water in the overflows for a week now testing them. I didn't see a drip then. Filled the tank up where water started coming down into the sump and it's leaving. I tried turning it with a wrench but it's on there tight.

What should I do? Any ideas of what's causing it?

Is your O-ring on the outside? I think they're supposed to be inside (judging by the picture in your set-up)? I'm not too savvy with plumbing, so I could be dead wrong.

My bulkheads came with 2 o rings but if that one only has one it should definitely be on the inside. Anyway. I had a slow drip when I started up my tank but after a few weeks salt clogged it up. If it's slow I'd just put a pale under it and wait a few weeks. Hope that helps

I agree looks like the o ring is on the outside. They need to be in contact with water on the inside. If you want you can silicone it. Wait 24 hours and it wont leak for a while, but its better to just get a new one.

Thank you for the responses. They are very much appreciated.

So i realized there was a lot of tension on the bulkhead from that hose. I took the hose off and the drip from up top stopped. It seems like now it's drilling down through the bulkhead. When I just the hose on it comes over the top of the hose and down the outside of it instead of down the inside of it for sone reason. If that makes sense.

May I ask if the water leaking from the bulkhead or the place where hose shoved into the threads ?

It appears it's coming from where the hose goes onto the threads. Like it's coming out the top of hose when it's fully up the threads.

I used to have this problem but the metal clamp saved it. Mine doesn't have threads so I think the clamp works better. I see you have one more thread left out. Maybe try to use a new section of tubing and shove it to the bottom. Dry both side before doing so.

Yes the gasket should be on the wet side. Some gaskets have a ring on them. Place the rings glass down. Put a little vaseline or lube on the basket before placing it down. Only hand tighten the gasket. If you tourque down you can break it. Did you hand tighten or did you torque down. If you torqued down when you clamped the barb on, it may just be simply opening a crack you created in the bulkhead. I have done this before I learned they only needed to be hand tightened.

I looks like that bulkhead gasket is on the dry side. It should be on the wet side. My guess it's weeping along the threads. I would drain the overflow box to dry, unscrew the bulkhead and make the gasket on the wet side when you put the bulkhead back together.
