Help! Cannot Lower Phosphates!

Have u tried adding anything like microbacteria7 from bringtwell to help with the cycling. Also nitrates at 10 seem alittle high. How big.of a water changes are u doing. I have an undetectable amount of p04 or n03 and run no sort of reactor or dose any kind of carbon sorce. Like everyone said check your reactor and try a 25% water change.

Wrx- I've done two 30% water changes this week resulting in minimal drops in levels.

I would have to think your rocks could be leaching it out. There are chemicals out there to reduce it but I try not to add stuff like that to my tank. Brightwell makes product called reefbiofuel it is a labled form of vodka dosing. I am not saying you should jump to that but it is an option if nothing else seems to help

It's a bit interesting... I uses this rock before... Twice. 1 at about 20 years ago and then again about ten years ago. It had been boxed in storage wrapped in newspaper until this go-round which is my most complex setup yet. In previous setups, I was using tap, now I use RODI. And still, I don't recall having algae issues like this. Hypothetically, if I was to replace all the old rock with newly purchased live rock keeping the current water, sand, & rubble as is, would the tank cycle again?

It might be poss to have a recylce. The tank isnt that old yet and doing water changes and skimming should bring it down. Have u tested your saltwater before u added it to your tank. Could it be your containers or maybe the salt.u are using. Was the salt open for a while.

New salt, RODI water tested at zero Po4, zero TDS, and food-grade buckets with lids.

Oops! I've been testing my Ca incorrectly. It's been 340 all along. Time to add the B-Ionic!
