I have a 75g, maybe 90g total water with sump. I dont have a huge calcium demand as of yet, but was thinking of taking the plunge and getting a reactor.

I don't have anything yet, other than a controller, so I'll need a whole kit, and I need an external.

Can it be done for 500 bucks?

If so, what are the good options?

I would look used if you can find one.

They just recirculate water in a chamber, so used ones usually work as well as new ones.

Usually, you can get all of the gear too including regulator, feed pump, check valve, etc.
