Need some help choosing a calcium reactor. Running a RedSea 425xl (112gal) with mainly SPS. Currently dosing DIY All for Reef. If the math is correct, my tank is consuming 2.57 dkh per day. Future expansion include a 30-50 gallon frag tank. So I need some excess capacity and it needs to be quiet as the unit will be sitting out in the open in an office environment. Any suggestions for reactors that fit the bill?

Take a look at the reef octopus skimmers with dc pumps. Efficient and silent. The upper end ones have silencers on air intake

I love my Geo, rock solid and built extremely well. As far as being quiet, that depends on the pump and the feed pump? You can hear the pump, it's not crazy loud, but in a quiet room, you'll hear it. I would find a cabinet or possibly build something to house it in. Deltec makes great stuff, looking forward to buying one of their skimmers, but have never used their reactors. They look nice though.
Do yourself a favor and buy a really good dual stage regulator, it'll pay for itself in the long run.
I use the 618 Geo on my 90g sps tank, along with a second chamber for catching excess CO2.

Yes. Like geo calcium reactor. I have 618. Nice and quite. Built like a tank. Highly recommend. 2nd on dual stage regulator. Best to get a good one. Earlier post was for different thread.

Thanks for the feedback. I am tempted to just go with Geo's on reputation alone. Sitting here in my office listening to my skimmer and return pump hum, I probably need to address those before worrying about making the next piece of gear quieter.

What is everyone using for the recirculating pump on their GEO 618? When I bought mine, it came with the Sicce 1.5, but I keep having to replace impellars. I bought the DC pump "upgrade" which has since been taken off the site. I'm guessing due to issues as mine has been troublesome. I'm considering buying an Eheim.

I’ve had to replace one already after a couple of years. I find the sicce pumps a little noisy to be honest.

my calcium reactor is old, it is by mrc its got 2 8 inch tubes that are 30 inches tall for the first stage and stage 2 is 24 inche tall 6 inch tube. its got an external pan world pump cirulating, if it was in a house i would use a dc pump these days, but the one on it will run forever. I would look for cheap used big setups, you cant oversize the calcium reactor. its not like a protein skimmer.... bigger means a more rock steady alkalinity pump. IN many cases the regulator should be the most expensive part of the setup. A good regulator is easily $400++ a great one $800++ Im running the kamoer pump, have used masterflex in the past, the kamoer much quieter and works well for a cheap pump..
the masterflex will last forever, kamore, who knows but seems to be pretty solid little pump
