Its finally time to upgrade my 75 gal, I am going with a 150 Marineland with corner filters and a model 4 Aqueon sump ( holds 20 gal) I need help deciding on a return pump size and if anyone has recommendations on a brand I would love to hear them. I have a mag 5 on my 75 .
Thanks Mike

I like external pumps myself and would recomment PanWorld, as it is effectively a Japanese Iwaki for a lot less money.

If you have the budget and opportunity I suggest you get a custom sump/one made from an aquarium. I just upgraded my sump, I had the aqueon model 3 sump and it just got very frustrating to use. It is small, the skimmer/return section was TINY, and the way Aqueon decided to build these sumps is not the smartest. The panel that keeps the bio balls in "hooks" over the media tray, and if you unhook the panel, the bio balls float out unless you are quick and careful. I now have a 30 breeder sump, custom made for me, that I really like. But, this is just my .02.

Depending on your budget my personal preference was always internal water pumps. You need to find out how many gallons your overflow will handle and what you want to also run off that pump (reactors, skimmer, etc). When you determine how much flow you want I would go after the most energy efficient pump you can afford. My preference in order, Tunze, Eheim, Quiet One, Mag. I would not reccomend a Sicce pump as it was a little noisy for my use. Hope this helps
