Help choosing wavemakers for my 75 gallon tank

Hi, I have a typical 4 foot 75 gallon tank and really need to purchase a better wavemaker set up. I can not spend more than around $400. I have currently been using two cheap wavemakers, one strong, one weak, but have a large low flow area that i cannot seem to fix with the current set up. It is affe ting my zoa garden and gonipora. A soft layer of brown algae is beginning to cause them to shut up alot.
I am considering a gyre style, ..or maybe 2 turbelle nanostream 6055 with controller from brs. Whats the best way to position them ? On the back, toward the front wall, one the ends directly facing each other? Off centered facing each other? Im just not sure how to get good flow without being too much for my hammer and mushrooms. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I’ve owned Nero, Red Sea, Tunze and WAV …
The Nero was nice but the power supply was not robust nor hardened for a salty enviorment, my take: probably a good choice but mine lasted 1.5 yrs
The Red Seas are built like tanks and aren’t fussy. They can go longer between cleaning than anything I’ve owned…I don’t care for the app
Tunze are tanks, the form factor is a lil large. I’ve never had a failure. Mine are several years old
Neptune WAV. Great when working but 2 of 4 have been sent in after 4yrs running. They do require cleaning more often than the others but for sheer power, they are it. Large form factor…

My suggestion: I’d go Red Sea or take a flyer on the Neros OR with a budget under $400, its gonna be tough getting any pair of the above brands so maybe go Amazon with the understanding you are buying time. Use those till they fail

I run 4 jebao mlw’s on my 4 foot 65 gallon AIO. One mlw 20 on either side wall and two mlw 10’s on the rear wall. Getting good flow throughout the whole tank. Love them. They give a wide flow and have run like champs for close to a year. You could get 4 pumps for close to $400.

Running two Nero in the same tank had them for probably two years keep them clean and you should be fine.. I had a gyre, works ok giant PITA to service and it needs it often. I love tunze gear, stuff lasts forever. I know people buy jaebo and I get why, but I haven't had anything but trouble with them.

Thanks. Im leaning heavy toward the tunze ones i think. I like the ability to move them in all directions easily.

One on each end, they're on some random setting. I can't remember the last time I looked at the app to see what it's called.

I have older jebao, sow model, works great, previous i have various jebao pumps, only real problem that i have with them is that they gets "dirty" realy fast and loose flow. Quick cleaning is all it takes, but its annoying to clean every month.....

The smart Jebaos are great if you go cheap, but know that they are way overpowered for idk what reason, go undersized for sure. Their GPH rating is aparently not the same as what the higher end manufacturers use and its at least twice as strong as they claim, their models recomended for 75+ are wayy too strong for a 75, they will shoot water out of the tank on lower settings.

Look into jeabo cross flow or sine cross flow pumps .

I have had them on my tank for years without any issues. .
And affordable

Their model numbers are based on length or distance in centimetres .

For example the scp-180 is supposed to be rated for 180 cm length tanks.

A lot of folks have great experience with Jebao and I gave them a go. Unfortunately both died within 3 weeks. I now have a pair of AI Nero’s and they seem to work great—although I’ve only had them for about 6 weeks.

I’ve never tried the Tunze, but I have their ATO and it’s very well built. As to placement: I would start with one at either end and adjust the placement after observing the flow, as much depends on your aqua scape.
