I've decided to move my 2-part dosing pump from my 58gal over to my 90gal. So I'm going to add a calcium reactor to 58gal. Right now my two choses are the Deltec PF509 http://www.deltecusa.us/calciumreactors/pf509.php
Geo 612 http://www.geosreef.com/Ca_612.html
These are the two that I liked the best for my system. If you have any experience with either of these reactors or any other suggestions please share.

I have used both the Deltec PF509 and PF501. Both are very nice. I ended up replacing the 509 with the 501 because it has the PH probe holder. I think the 509 would be plenty for your system. I have the 502 turned down to almost nothing on my small system, but i have high hopes for it when I upgrade. i have never used a Geo, but Leishman has one and he loves it. I'm sure he will chime in. the only downside to the Deltecs is price, but I really think they are worth it.

If you have anymore questions, it would be my pleasure to answer them.

I have the GEO 618 and absolutely love it. Easy to set up and use. Mine also has the probe holder, which is nice and a must. I currently have it on my 30 but will be using it on the 300 when it's time to take down the 30.

Well, I said a "must" solely based on personal experience. I like that fact that I can get an accurate read on the chamber pH an any moment. I don't use a controller, not yet anyways. Just a pH monitor. You can also have the effluent dump into a cup and place the pH probe in the cup.

If you are keeping the reactor on the 58 and not really upgrading later, I would go with the 612. The 618 is definitely oversized and I had to dial it back to very low bubble count and drip rate so that I won't overshoot the Ca levels. I only got it b/c it knew I was getting a bigger tank eventually.

i had both yu can add a probe holder to the deltec ,but if the pump goes bad it costs a small fortune (also the media)

i would get the geo

Personally for me I jones over the Deltec reactor I think the fluidized reactor with the swirling action of the media is an awesome idea and I am surprised more people havent copied that (maybe there is something to be said about that but I am a fan of it) and thats saying a lot considering I have a Geo package myself. If price was equal I would say go Deltec but in the long run it is going to cost you a lot more going with the Deltec when you factor in media as well (and if something goes wrong with the pump where it isnt covered under warranty get ready to break the wallet out).

yeah, remember........you can ONLY use that *special* deltec media in a deltec reactor...... ;)

my vote is for geo based on more bang for your buck.

Well for it to be fluidized I would say yes since its such fine grade I believe its finer then anything else. That also can cause problems with the pump though as it gets in there and grinds more i agree though bang for buck go Geo.

Looks like I'll be getting the Geo 612. Just curious what equipment everyone is using? Regulator, solenoid, controller, probe...

Not true. Many have converted to the new ARM media. It works as well, but it is too large to be fluidized.

I use a Schuran Jetstream-1 and got it after being slowly tortured by a bad My Reef Creations unit. The Schuran rocks--

I use a ph Controller (only as a failsafe but it's not needed once you get the "feel" for your reactor) and a Milwaukee reg/solenoid.
