Need some assistance in cleaning what I think are diatoms, I've added a UV sterilizer, I can blow them away with a turkey baster, and they seem to want to stay. My Nitrates keep bottoming out at zero. The phosphates reached a high of 1.44 but on average was .7. I set the fug light to only be on for 4 hours. First I dosed with Brightwell NeoNitro as needed. When the phosphates hit 1.44 I dosed with NP balance, this caused the the nitrates and phosphates to bottom out at 0.00

That's the back ground, as you can see from the pictures the diatoms (??) like to return, when I clean the glass it is more red than then green film algae, any suggestion would be appreciated.

Salt is not that high, the Neptune doesn't play well, salt is 35.5

First slow down and stop doing multiple things at once. You’ll never be able to solve the problem because you don’t know what’s causing it.

I’d this a new tank? If so diatoms are normal and will pass on their own.

I would stop dosing and do water changes daily to lower phosphates. Once lowered to an acceptable range then you can start looking at your other problems. Tackle one thing at a time and usually other problems correct themselves when you do that

Thank you for the reply, the tank is two years old, I think I compacted a long story into a brief paragraph, the phosphates are at 0.00 after using NP Balance, Yesterdays reading were 0.00 for nitrate and phosphate.

If it’s 2 years old and has 0 nitrates and phosphates, it’s most likely Dino and not diatoms. Blackout for a couple days and feed to raise nutrients but do it slowly. That’s what I did for my tank when I had it. Wrapped it in cardboard
