Help cleaning up my cesspool

just a quick question. when you first added your sand did you rinse it? I had the same problem but with diatoms and came across https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/the-official-sand-rinse-thread-aka-one-against-many.230281/

I read a decision to post here and @brandon429 helped me and my tank has very few diatoms now but oh boy the sand was way cruddy! feel free to ask him any questions!

Yup rinsed my sand. Over several days actually.
