Hello, on Thursday night around 9 pm my lights had just turned off, which by then i usually place my lid back on, this night … of course i forgot it , and while im laying in bed i hear a splash to which i realize im missing my 3rd clown, for 5 minutes im looking around the tank to no luck finding him, after 8 minutes i gave up, i go to my parents room to break the news and the hunt continues again as my dad helps me, we look behind my dresser which is impossible to reach behind and we find him, its been atleast 10 minutes at this point out of water and hes still flopping on the floor , i pull out my drawers to reach under my dresser gran him and put him in the water, i seriously thought this guy was dead hes all covered in dust and everything and hes missing his first dorsal fin , he seemed to have recovered fine and i was pretty happy that i managed to save him, he was doing all well for all of friday just still a bit scared after yesterday, but then i wake up today to find hes missing him entire tail fin i was so scared when i first woke up and see him thinking he was a goner forsure but this guy is a little champ and seems to be able to swim still, but my question is, WHAT DO I DO ????? This is my first saltwalter aquarium 45 gallon tank 48lx18wx12h so its a pretty shallow and wide tank for lots of space for the fish to swim so i dont think it was my clownfish pair that did that as they are never really nipping at his fins but …. I forgot to mention, i have a coral banded shrimp at the moment the CBS is my main suspect in this i dont suspect the hermit crabs , please any information on what i should do would help tremendously

THE FIRST 2 PICS ARE THE DAY AFTER HE JUMPED OUT OF THE TANK

NEXT 2 PICS ARE TODAY THIS MORNING

Hello @Humblefish .
Sorry about your experience. It appears grim but it may be able to survive? I’m not sure what antibiotics would be used to stop the spread of the infection, but I think that there is a sliver of hope.

It seems to be getting worse, hes losing all the flesh he once had and now his spine is showing,

Hope he pulls through. Liable to be scarred for life, and maybe not long lived at this point?

The issue is having 3 clowns in a tank together - the pair has turned on the last one and won’t stop until it’s dead. Given the damage, it’s unlikely the fish will survive. It’s best chances are for it to be isolated, and I would recommend treating with an antibiotic like kanaplex.

still swimming the next day but seems to be getting smaller, i think the others are taking nips at him, seems to be the end soon?

Unfortunately i started with 4 clowns, i know bad idea but then 1 was lost to a ich like disease which didnt spread to the others and for a while the lonely 3rd clown was not being bothered by the others but it does seem now that the pair are starting to pick on him, thank you all for your help, its unfortunate but i will learn from my mistakes. Thank you

This fish sadly will not make it and needed to be isolated a long time ago as scale/bone is showing and will continue to decline.

Four is not an issue, I started with 14 in my drop off tank, ended up with loss of one which jumped, sold one breeder pair and still have 11 in my tank

Sorry missed that.
It’s time to kill it. I hate that part of this hobby.
Me, I freeze him and flush him.
Time is very short.
