Hello, I currently have a pair of clownfish that are fighting non stop and I don't know what to do. So backstory, I had a pair of Clarkii clownfish but one of them died, and the one has been living by itself for several years. I recently just picked up a second one and have had it in an acclimation box in the tank for over a week. The aggression through the box stopped, but as soon as I added the new one they started chasing and fighting non stop. What do I do an is there any chance of them becoming a pair?

Clownfish are wired for dominance and hierarchy - often that is demonstrated through the behavior that you are describing. There are many approaches to limit or offset the behavior but nothing is guaranteed. Is the new clownfish that you got a small one? If not, it may be a female like your other one and if so, if is unlikely that they will ever get along. Is the new clown also a Clarkii? Although cross-species pairs can exist together, I have found better luck with pairing the same species. You may try adding additional hiding spots, rearranging the aquascape, or putting the original clown in the acclimation box/sump/separate tank. Good luck with the adventures!
