So my husband tried to hook up our RODI system but it's only dripping out....he tapped into some water pipe in the basement. He thinks it needs a tank ro produce water however it did not say it needs a tank. How do we increase water pressure and what are we doing wrong? He put the black line into drain snd red line into water source...I assume yellow is how the water comes out? I'm postinh pics to see what anything we did wrong? It's a mess under my sink....HELP

What is the TDS of the water coming out?
An RO unit doesn't produce a flow of water, it's normal for it to dribble.
It's supposed to be 150 per 24 hours but its coming out in drops or a veryyyyyy slowwwww dribble...I think it would take a month to make 5 gallons  he said it needs a tank but I see people hook it to their faucet and just drain the waste into their sink. Am I incorrect. It doesn't have a guage for PSI

Saddle valves are terrible and will end up leaking eventually, replace that ASAP. Do you know what your water pressure is? The dribble may just be normal output.
No guage....but it's supposed to put out 150 gpd at this rate it will dribble 5 gallons in a day.....it's really really slow! Does it need a tank to make water? I would think not but my husband is insisting it does?

I am no plumbing expert, but that does not look right. Here is how mine is plumbed. Now we had a plumber come in and do it when we moved the sump room to basement. However, we had it hooked up before this in a laundry room off a main line with no issues.
I could not find better pictures of the ones of my timer, anion addition, and auto stop valve. Sorry.
I hope you get it figured out soon. Low pressure is sometimes an issue.

No tank needed. We had one for our drinking water when we had a unit up in kitchen. May be what he is thinking. For our use, no tank needed. May need a pressure booster. Also may be an issue with the way it is plumbed. Hopefully a plumber can chime in. :)
I plumb a lot, but not the actual house plumbing. I stick to tanks.

It could be that I'm seeing your pics wrong, but it looks to me that your red line going into the system is where your output should be??? It also looks like to me that you have the yellow line hooked up to the input of the water source. I would try switching the yellow and red lines and see if that helps.

Where are the two blue lines coming from that Y into the black line that is the drain?

An RODI does not require a tank.
150 gal per day is going to be dependant on the water pressure going into the unit.
Ok so tapping into a small line with minimum pressure is probably not

We are so clueless and the dang thing didn't come with instructions! It has a site to go on with videos and the the videos don't show us how to hook up ours!

I think the red is going into the water source, the blackine is for drain pipe and the yellow line is supposed to be for the water to come out cleaned from filters. So that is the only thing on the paper it cane with what is color line is for.

He did move that back and forth! The stupid valve is leaking too :( he is gonna move the water source to where the washer is with a t-valve
Yea that’s how I have mine setup, off my washer supply, just get a good quality Y adapter. From what I can tell yours looks plumbed ok but hard to tell for sure.

I change my lines and do not always use the colors they do. So, understanding the system and flow is important. Hopefully the videos help. I have not actually watched them. I learned from playing with it and my instructions.

Unfortunately you can't tell the water pressure just by looking at the size of the line. Perhaps there's a problem with the saddle valve, or you generally have low water pressure in the house, without a measured number from the RODI unit, it's impossible to tell.

Yes my husband said it sounded like the drain line was moving much faster that maybe they were switched, however I reminded him that for everyone 1 gallon of RODI water it wastes about 3 gallons. He thought the machine produced water while off and just instantly had water when you turned it on. I told him no it will definitely drain faster into the waste pipe because there's more waste water than RODI water!
