I have a nice sized of tyree miami hurricane chalice that I got from Joeknowesreefs. It looks brownish since the day I got it and has been in my tank for 3 months growing super fast. very healthy but still brown. I moved it from low light, medium light and it still looks brownish. Can anyone suggest how to bring up its true color.

I have a friend that also got a piece of miami hurricane from Joe. It is growing really really well but it also lost color. We have done the same thing trying to move it to different light and flow with no success. Not sure what to do on this one.

Mine is in medium to low light, and has colored up very nicely. Fluctuations in alkalinity and or calcium will dull color, not unlike many other chalices. Too much water flow aslo has browned out my Creamsicle. It's colors are coming back slowly, in reduced current.

What spectrum/type of light are you providing? Fast growth and browning out sounds like possibly too much red/yellow spectrum?

I keep mine at 175-200 Par. It was receding and washed out when I got it

Since I lowered it it's looks very nice now.

mine Miami hurricane (don't know who's from) is under a par38 light and its all the way at the bottom of a 29gallon tank(from light to bottom about 23inches).....growing super nice and from 3 eyes to 6 eyes in 4months. from a dime size to a little bigger then a half dollar coin size and very nice color

Here is a pic of the one I had. It was in rather high flow and halfway up in my rock work.

It's supposed to be blue

It went from the four eyes on top to 16 eyes in about 5 months.
