Help! Coraline bleached, LPS closed, sps bleaching

How’s your water temp?

Did you notice your coralline glowing under blue light a few days prior to it turning white? When I have had coralline die it normally does that in advance.

Anything else in the tank like an anemone that died and is nuking your tank?

I’d think that too but my wife knows to not to use any cleaners on the tank ever. I did do that water change in case it was something dumb like cleaner but that didnt seem to help at all.

Yea the water change would have definitely helped, plus you did mention your running carbon as well I believe which also would have helped pull out any contaminants. I'm curious to find out about the PH have you had the opportunity to check yet?

Well PH is 8.1 and everything is still closed up so maybe it was too much light with too low nutrients... but that means this was my fault, crap!

I’m leaving the skimmer off and removed GFO to help raise nutrients a little (leaving ATS on though). Also going to turn off the t5 for a week and see how everything responds. Nothing else has died so hopefully it will all slowly recover.

On a positive note i am seeing some polyp extension in the birdsnest so hopefully the worst is over.

I’ll check back in a few days, thanks for everyones help!

Didnt notice the coraline glowing but with holidays wasnt paying too much attention. And nothing died recently except maybe a crab eaing my nessarius snail

I had noticed the temp had been a little higher now that you mention it. Normally at 75 it was up around 77 but i got it back to 75 after about 3 days being higher. Would that affect LPS that much too though?

Sounds good . Lot of lps are like plants will close up to block light. Careful going from 0 to heavy mmight get cyano. Leave skimmer for couple days add it back in slow. If your seeing pe now your on right track. 2 degree swing no worries. Most tanks do more daily

Stray voltage? Maybe a rusty magnet?
Something could be rusting. Send a water sample out to ATI or Triton...I doubt its light related with the lights your running plus same issues in the sump. Check for heavy metals. Something is off.
