Hey guys! I've recently started a fishless cycle on my first ever tank. I'm using the dr tims fishless method. I'm currently on day ten and my ammonia is reading somewhere between .15 and .25, nitrate at 50, and nitrite at 2 on salifert kits. According to the chart I should be near zero on both by now. I've used approx 10 pounds of liferock (light I know) and 30 lbs of arag alive special grade, for ammonia dosing I've dosed for approx 20 gallons. I was considering adding more bacteria? Is there any downside other than the cost at this point? Also I was considering adding in some marine pure balls, is now a good time or does this have potential to stall the cycle? I'm sure this has been previously discussed but I have some nausea issues which make it very difficult to sift through threads, I truly appreciate any and all help.

1. Did you happen to use the 'drop' method to dose Dr. Tims? If so - it seems to be a chance that you overdosed ammonia.
2. I would stop dosing everything - and stop testing anything and wait 3-4 days - then re-check.

The ammonia levels you're talking about are minuscule - and the nitrite levels are not toxic. You're probably good to go - but I would just retest in a couple days - hope this helps

Unfortunately different tanks cycle at different rates, some are slower. D:

Won’t hurt, but probably won’t help at this stage tbh.

No it won’t stall the cycle, now is the best time to add them.

No probs. Feel free to pm me if it makes things easier.

I did use the drop method, It's definitely possible I overdosed but I never got a crazy high reading. I did not realize live sand could increase ammonia so I did not account for that when dosing, very possible I overdosed by a bit. I'll do that! Thanks

Awesome thank you! I'll go ahead and add the marine pure tonight, may add a bit more bacteria since my friend has some extra one and only...if it won't hurt why not lol. I'll see how everything looks in a few days :)

One more question for tonight, what does this reading look like to you? It is not crystal clear, but doesn't have a yellow hue. It looks very different from my previous tests earlier this week which were .5. I was guessing 0-.15, others told me .25. Pics taken in indirect sunlight

it looks like the third box on the top - but I dont think thats how you read that test (I frankly can never see tie differences - one time it looks like x the next time it looks like y)

UPDATE I am now at zero ammonia! Nitrite is spiking but hopefully that goes down soon too :) I have realizing my rock scape is a bit too light, is there any harm in adding more now mid cycle? I am using caribsea liferock
