I have added dry rock, no sand yet have been cycling for the past 8 weeks, however all I have is a brown sludge on the coral and glass? It looks terrible what am I doing wrong.

Also I have another problem I bought my Radions and on the arm the extend to the edge of the tank is this too far out should I buy new arms and the lights are positioned mid way - this is what my LFS sold me so I thought it was ok but now unsure? I also haven't been having the lights on during cycling as I didn't think you would need? LFS said it doesn't matter??

I feel a bit lost - any recommendations on what product to use or best cycling technique would be good. Got sold the goods but not the help LOL.

TY Mark

Lots of different ways to cycle your tank. Have you been testing for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
I personally use a bottle of bacteria and an ammonia source. (DR TIMS, bio spira...). Check out bulk reef supply the BRS160. They go through the complete build of their 160 gallon tank.
As for the Radion arms. They should come with different rails. A small one and a longer one. If you use the longer one I think you can have a little excess hanging off the back.

First things first, you don’t need lights to cycle, likely that’s causing the brown. 2nd what power are you running them at and what are your color settings, radions can be very powerful if not set properly. Like the other person said radions come with 3 arms assuming you bought the Radion arm. 3rd, regarding the cycle, how did you start your cycle? What are your water parameters?

How are you cycling the tank?
