Hi guys, I’m at a loss
First velvet (still in its midst)
And now this:
Most of my sps are looking blah, loosing color and almost looked burned?
Most LpS are good

Things that have changed:
- Dosed more peroxide than usual to combat velvet
- Diamond goby died - perhaps my water is cleared
- 60% fish died

things that haven’t changed for 6+ months
Alk 8.3
Cal 420
Mg 1500
No3 15
Po4 0.07

total volume 139 gallon

what I’ve done so far:
Increased water change
Reduced light intensity
Increased reef spec carbon
Stopped peroxide dosing
Dead fish scooped and disposed stat

please diagnose
Any suggestions?

before n after

The peroxide was probably the culprit of your multiple issues. The things you did afterwards seem fine but I wouldn't have changed my light settings as they most likely weren't the reason for the coral issues and definitely didn't kill your fish.

My thought process was that reduced lighting may offer a chance for recovery..... yay/nay? Or by the looks of it they are toast

I would not consider them toast, corals have a way of recovering from what looks like the dead. As long as you removed the contamination and the water is back to closely being pristine most of the corals should recover (be patient it will not happen overnight) and your fish deaths will stop.

You are panicked and you are moving to fast. Slow down take a deep breath think about what you have done and what you are seeing. Things don't move fast in aquariums only we do.

Moderate light and water flow should suffice and assure the following are NOT elevated:

Ammonia
phosphate
nitrate
ph
temp
salinity
alk
CA

What test kits are you using ?

You are absolutely correct. I wish I could turn back time.

so I should lower my light intensity a bit then?

Ammonia - seachem badge
phosphate - hanna colorimeter
nitrate - nyos
ph - apex
temp - apex
salinity - hanna
alk - trident
CA

You can. Reduce white intensity and increase blue a little

It’s due to my IO reef crystals
Been like this for 6 month and both sps and lps were growing well
I would try a 10 gallon box/pail for water change of a different salt brand and see if that makes a difference.
The ammonia badge is UNreliable and known for false readings as it is also intended for Freshwater. I would have phosphate and ammonia verified at a trusted LFS which does Not use API test kits

I'm only saying this because I remember reading something like higher Mag levels with low alk, calcium can become insoluble and drop causing stony corals some issues.
