I purchased this beautiful PBT after it had just arrived in the store and started acclimation. I knew it would be a risk but it was one of the better ones I had seen in months.

Anyways, I currently have it in QT with full dose of Coppersafe but have noticed this line on him the day after I got him.

Anyone know what it might be and what to test it with? Do I need to wait till copper is done after 30 days or can I treat in conjunction with Copperafe?

Thanks,
Josh

looks like a cut from the pictures. Can you get a clearer photo of it? You can treat with antibiotics while treating with copper, but it's best to wait if you can. You'll want to make sure the water quality is top notch and vitamins in his food is a good bet as well. Vitachem or Selcon are good examples of vitamins. You'll want to watch it and take action if it gets worse, turns red or he starts acting differently (lethargy, heavy breathing, stops eating, ect )

Don't know what you mean by what to test it with?

Sorry typo. Meant to say "treat it with" not test lol

I looked at all the diseases and figure it was a bacterial infection but wasn't sure if it looked like a cut.

Also wasn't sure I should dose anything else while in full treatment with Coppersafe.

Fish started eating on the 2nd day and the pinched belly is gone. So far looks like Nori is it but hopefully in a few days it will venture to other foods. The melanurus wrasse it's housed with is eating pretty pellets, mysis, brine shrimp, etc.

Thanks,
Josh

Good deal! Yeah, it could be infected, but it looks mild at this point. You can combine Kanaplex with the copper safely, but care needs to be taken when doing that. Until you know that his own immune system can't handle it on it's own (it gets worse or turns red), then add vitamins and keep the water pristine. You can actually soak his nori in vitachem or selcon (or other similar products) before feeding it to him. That would help him some.

Just a little update.... appears the PBT only had a cut that is all healed now. Surprisingly there's no signs that it was ever there now.

Awesome!! That's great news! I love it when things work out they way we want them to.
