i have upgraded my tank from 55 gallon to 120 gallon reef tank would it be better to add the original tank water and sand to the new tank or would there be any problems in doing this, my thoughts are i could tranafer the fish and corals the next day and it would shorten the cycle of diatoms or algae, my parameters in the 55 are very good i have no algae can i transfer everything with the addition of new ro/di water as a large top up your thoughts please

I plan on a similar upgrade and plan to get all new sand then transfer my rock/water over (adding new water as well of course); will then slowly add new rock.

original rock from old tank had no problems with hair algae or any other bad algae no hitchikers or api,so hopfully the original water and water from 120 litre nano. the sump is up and running for the last two weeks just returning throught itself with a small 1000 litre pump. so when i fill the new tank with salted ro/di water pehaps 40% then the rest all original to shorten the cycle so i dont go through the long process of ugly sand and my fish have a new home after 24 hours
