Nems do seem to act strange from time to time, especially doing things that freak us out for a minute

The anemonetake water in to inflate, they then purge the water and take in new water, like a water change. From what I've read, it could be a sign of stress. But I've always read and seen anenome do it in perfectly stable and pristine environments

I agree. But sometimes when they look like this they are also splitting. I started with 1 now I have 10. I’m glad they stay on 1rock. I wish any of my local stores would give me credit.

How old is your tank?
About 6years old if I recall correctly. When I first got my men it split into 2 within 1st week. Then had another split about a month after that. I have lost track since then. But whenever I see one squished. My mind immediately thinks I’m getting another. Most of the time it doesn’t.
