i got a beautiful dwarf angel fish last Sunday and she was doing great all week. Didn't eat much but looked great. This morning she swam facing up, and now she is basically floating and being propped up. Is there anything I can do? Her yellow head is turning darker. No way she can survive unless I do something- not sure what. All other fish doing great. Thanks. Can't figure how to post pic.

Water quality is good. Up and running since December, and have had healthy fish for over two months.

Are those spots on the fish or on the tank? There's a chance if they're on the fish that it could be ich, among other issues. I would remove the fish and put it in quarantine if possible, but honestly whatever the fish may potentially have has already been introduced to the tank. Hopefully someone with more experience than me will come along and be able to help you out.

Good question. I hadn't noticed but just confirmed that they are
spots on the tank.

I'd like a closer, clear picture of her. Is she breathing heavily/very fast? She looks pretty skinny from here, but it could just be the angle. You said her head is getting darker.... anything like this perhaps?

i can't get a good shot as she is laying on the rocks. But the clean up crew is beginning to harass her. At what point do I pull her out. Breathing is not labored but she clearly can't make it like this. Thanks for input.

Well do you have a QT you can put her in? Is she displaying any other symptoms either now or before? White spots, a dusty appearance, swimming into the flow of a powerhead, hiding excessively, flashing, scratching, yawning, head twitching? Things like that besides the floating oddly.

No, only weird symptom was this morning watching her face upward. No spots to twitches. I put her in a large container and we'll see. Thanks

Her eyes look cloudy, also. I think there may be several things wrong with this fish. It's hard to tell from the photo but it appears thin, and as if it has spots on it?

The spots are from the tank but her eyes have become hazy and she never really ate since I got her on Saturday but she was fine yesterday and all week? Assuming she has spots and hazy eyes, what would I give her for treatment, if anything?

With just these things to go on I think I would assume an infection (possibly gram neg) and put her in QT with the trifecta of antibiotics -kanaplex, metroplex, furan 2. This would be a last ditch effort to save her basically. She looks pretty bad and there just isn't much info to go on here.

Thanks but she died. Very weird it was so fast - doing great yesterday. Thanks for everyone's input. Appreciate it.

If it wasn't one of the fast acting diseases (velvet, brook, uronema), it could be due to cyanide. Bicolors are known to be caught with cyanide which would lead to sudden unexplained deaths like yours.

I'm actually thinking it was a gram negative bacteria. They are very hard to treat and act very quickly. Sometimes there just isn't enough time to get them into treatment before they go. I'm sorry for the loss.

I would keep a close eye on all your other fish; in case this was caused by a transmissible disease.
