I recently lost a clam, green lobo, and now my candy cane. All my perimeters seem to be fine. I've been battling some algae outbreak tho. I need guidance, i bought some seahem coral dip should I use that? I've never dipped before.

I've been trying to feed them for awhile now with no luck. The first 3 or 4 months I had them they were doing good. I have a kessil a150 sky blue 10 inches over my marineland 27 gallon cube.

They do seem retracted, do you have too much flow in there beating them up? They are not liking something...

I would also make sure there are no foreign substance that might have fallen or accidently got into your tank

What lighting do you have?and I recommend coral rx it's the best dip around imo

What are your Parameters? Just asking, Nitrates and Phosphates to be specific.

I'll play around with my flow or moving it. And I'm running a kessil a150 sky blue 10" above a 27 cube. I'm thinking about getting a different light but this was my first one and am not quite sure what to get. My NO3 read 0 or close to it but I have some algae problems so that reading could be false. My PO4 is 0.05

I'm wondering if my banded eel constantly stirring up my live sand is some of my algae problem. I'm setting up his own tank as I type this.

We'll I took the day off work and made a trip to my LFS. Too bad that's a 45 minute drive. The store owner is always friendly and actually cares about my tank and every customers he deals with. Ok with that said I showed him one picture of my struggling corals and said STRONIUM! I replyed with Ill take it...and some other stuff. When I got home i followed his directions and like magic everything is instantly looking like it has a fighting chance. Thanks for everybody's advice. I am always looking for a guiding hand in the reef game. I want success BAD! Who knows maybe someday I'll even sell a frag or two. Again thank you.

With proper water changes you would NOT need to dose Strontium or anything else for that matter. Especially for LPS. What are your parameters? Alk-Ca-Mag-Ph. What test kit are you using?
Could also be to much light. 150w is a lot on a 27g especially for LPS. Is it dimmable?
I've been running the AquiticLife 4x24w T5HO on my 26g for almost 3yrs. I get wonderful color & growth out of all my LPS. But if your wanting to go with LED's make sure you can dimm them or hang it higher then 10"

I do a 4 gallon WC every week and my parameters are as follows, alk-9to10, ca-460' don't have a mag kit, ph right around 8. I use api test kits. I recently moved my led up to about a foot above the water and it is not dim able. I've been thinking about trading or buying a different light I just don't have unlimited funds. Would you recommend the light your using and how deep is your tank?

I highly recommend the Aquaticlife units. Great customer service. I use all ATI lamps.
My tank is a 26g bow front. 21" tall, 24" long and 16" deep.
Not the best of pics sorry but you get the idea. My Tridacna Crocea clam is almost 2yrs now :)
Totally understand about reefing on a budget :) Keep your eyes pealed on the selling forums. You could even put a Wanted ad up yourself. Lots of peps going to LED's are getting rid of their T5's. Not Me! I replace my lamps once a year at tax return. So far its worked great. Then again I'm not keeping anything that's light demanding. Except the clam and that sits 10" from the lights.
