This is not true, nor is it fair to berate me and assume you know anything about me. I dipped initially, as I do all new corals. I moved it once within the tank to a lower flow area and left it there for 6 hours but it was still receding. I moved it to my QT tank with the only difference in parameters being Alk 8.6 in the main tank and 8.4 in the QT. I moved it because I feared it contaminating the tank and killing other corals. I've not googled anything, only asked fellow reefers. I'm just trying to be proactive about saving this coral-
You're right. I apologize for being insensitive. I forget what it's like when you first start out and get nervous about everything. I suppose those feelings pass and I shouldnt pass judgement. That said, nutrient changes from one tank to another can have adverse effects. Noting a Alk of 8.4 without no3 or po4 can cause the coral to expel zooxanthellae which would cause stress. Typically a low to ulns should run Alk around 7dkh. So in turn switching tanks can stress the coral out. Like me and others have stated, even if this coral dies, it's skeleton can potentially regrow. I just wouldn't worry too much. Going the simple route of keeping it in a low flow dark area is best suited for this type of situation assuming the rest of your inhabitants are doing well.

IME I got a torch about 3 months from a well respected coral dealer here on R2R. When I received it from shipping it almost looked as bad as your all closed up and a little tissue was reseeding so I dip and put him in tank after about 3 days it opened up and has be thriving since. Hope all goes well for you. Just wanted to share my experience. I think the best thing you can do is leave it alone don't move it again. If it does die don't throw out the base. They are known to grow new heads

Apology accepted. Thank you for trying to help. I really do try to utilize everyones advise. Unfortunately sometimes it comes too late. Sometimes I feel like I have to make a decision and haven't gotten any responses yet, so I have to use what information I do have.
For the record, I am not just starting out, This tank is almost 5 years old. but I know there is so much to learn, Always. There is always something new happening, which is what makes this hobby so rewarding and so frustrating. I just don't like to kill anything.

What do you dip with?

I feel your pain with torches, I have lost 2 torches and 2 plates, but my Hammers and Frog spawn and other LPS are doing great. Did you say you have other torches, not sure why this would be different.

Yes, I have a neon torch that does very well. I'm pretty sure I damaged this new one with too much flow and didn't catch it quick enough because the damage was occurring on the back side.

Yo I'm tripping out. I moved my palys 3 days ago and I just posted on y my sps is dying. But I've lost an acan and my lps are all acting weird and I'm one other rainbow acan is recieding. I turned my lights on for these picks. The palys are next 2 the blasto.
