I haven't tested my alk lately and don't remember what it was. but tested my PH and it is a solid 7.8 in mornings and after noons when I get home. I have a powerhead skimming the surface making waves as high as I can get it in the tank without splashing water all over. I might add a second one. I also have a circulation fan that I'm using also. but still constant at 7.8. although that's not a bad reading and none of my fish are suffering I would atleast like it to be in the 8 to 8.4 range. running a hose out side which would be around 25 - 30 feet would be an option but at that distance I would have to get a more powerfull air pump. which I have been trying to find one. I have been looking for one that would withstand the weather in iowa. but alsosecond choice to find one that I can keep it inside and run a short hose outside then another air line to the skimmer air line. I know that I would have to do a larger air lines with the kick back. I did try the air pump I had last night with a 3/8 diameter line running into a 12 in long 1/4" diameter line and got absolutely no air coming from it. so either my air pump is weak or it's just to long of a air intake. the air pump is rated for 60-100 g. with adjustable air flow. I had it on high and did not feel anyting at the other end coming out. I might have to dose or use a CO2 Scrubber. Which I know BRS has a universal Scrubber for 40 or 50 dollar. maybe less I don't remember. where I can hook it up to my skimmer air intake. Also I am having trouble adjusting to the sweet spot on skimmer. I have the over flow reaching to the tank incase the cup over flows and then it will run straight in to the tank. the over flow tube had a plug in it. also I realized that the lid to the cup still had the plastic on it. so the lid also has small little holes in it. it's a eshopp PSK - 100H skimmer. the problem with a CO2 scrupper is I hear the media doesn't last longer then a few days to a 1.5 weeks. any suggestions on this situation on how to resolve it. I'm not apposed to air line running to the out side. but then the next question is what size pump and airlines should I have running from it so I won't get any kick back from it.
