Hello guys, first time reefer and first post here.
A couple of weeks ago I went shopping for an anemone to host my 2 clowns and a LFS sold me a Ritteri. As a newbie, I was looking for a forgiving anemone and have close zero knowledge on the different types, only what I've read in this and other forums. Well, I ended up with an H Magnifica in my hands, found out later.
I temp acclimated her as with any other fish and went to my DT. It started looking great but a couple of days later started to close completely at feeding time when cutting flow. I was told by several experienced reefers that it looked sick.
I trated her in a HT for 9 days with 250mg of cipro per day for 9 days. HT was a 10G tank filled about 2/3 and with the rock the nem decided to attach to. Basically it had roughly 7G of water. Water was changed daily and temp matched.
2 or 3 days into treatment it started to look much better. On the 6th day, she shrunk again for a few mins and started to look a bit under the weather. I was told that was normal and it could be she was expelling the last bit of bacteria. I extended treatment to 9 days and brought hr into the DT 2 days ago.
So far she hasn't deflated or shrunk yet but it not looking as beautiful as I've seen others. Tentacles are extended max 1 inch and some get thin from time to time.
I am in the look for other opinions.
