currently have a eoshopp skimmer for 150 gal in sump. Constantly having to work on it the motor keeps quitting on it. Looking for advice for better skimmer not a real big fan of eoshopp anymore.

I'm becoming a fan of the reef octopus skimmers. We use several different sizes in the store right now and they are all work horses that we haven't had to do much to besides emptying the cups.

Dumping the cup out is easier than taking the pump a part every couple weeks.

I agree with melypr1985 as I love reef octo skimmers. I have never had any issues with any of the one I have used. The only down side to them is the metric plumbing so it can be a pain if you need to plumb it for whatever reason. I now use a life reef skimmer that I modded and made it a recirculating skimmer to free up room in my sump by running it external and these skimmer are great but very pricey. If I get a bigger tank than my 92 corner (hopefully soon) I will probably go back to a reef octo. The only other skimmer I have used that I like is the ASM skimmers that are modded to be recirculating skimmers. They don't get the greatest reviews but the one I had I stood by as it rocked and kept my old 180 clean sometimes to clean.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try the reef octopus it's always nice to get someone else's opinion

Love my vertex 150 quiet and pulls lots of dark stinky skimate. build quality is amazing and the cup screws on so don't have to mess with slip on cups dumping skimate on the floor or back from where it came
