Hi all, I'm looking for some info or help to split a large finger coral. I have a 59gal oceanic and this coral is about 12" x 12" and Im afraid to split it in place. I have heard they release toxins.
Any info would be appreciated or would be willing to trade a large piece for actually splitting it.
I have a 40g set up for it to heal in.

Thanks, Mike and Mel

I wouldn't frag it. I'd re-home it. Just me.

Post a pic. I love seeing the big fellas.

Connected to 4 large rocks? If you want to do it outside the tank you will have to make sure no rocks fall as you pick it up. Could you razor blade the coral to separate the rocks?
Where are you located in ct?

Oh that's kinda far from me.
If you don't want to take it out.. I would drain most water out, cut it up, put water back in. Do a water change. Toxin released wouldn't be too bad that way. And minimized after the water change.
