Hey guys so this is actually my friend's tank. He has a 13.5g fluval tank that's been running for about 8 months. He's had this goniopora for 7mos(first coral in his tank) and yesterday it started to show signs of bleaching?? He's using a Saxby setting on AI prime 16 and feeds the tank every other day. I checked all his parameters and everything looks fine and no signs of stress in his other corals. Any ideas? I know we've all heard gonis are hard to keep but he does try to feed it goniopower at least once a week. Please lmk what you guys think and if there's anything he can do. Would fragging it help?

Gonis can recover.

What Type of food is your friend using?
What is the quantity of food?
Any nutrient export being used e.g skimmer?
What is the flow? They need surprisingly medium to high random flow.

I am not an expert but I have 7 varieties in my tank and they are thriving.

Feeding Hikari mysis and goniopower. He has a skimmer and the flow from return pump and powerhead

What is seen next to the bleached part, it is a mushroom, that may be the cause chemical war
Can you screenshot and circle what your talking about? There's nothing there lol. If your referring to the red on the rocks that's algea

Whenever that happens to one of ours, we dip them in an iodine bath. Using Lugol's Iodine, 20 drops per half gallon of saltwater, let the goni soak for 20 minutes or so. Hard to tell what's causing it, but could be an infection and an iodine bath will help with that
