Help! High phosphates in Nuvo 10

Sponges are good!

I had vermetids as well. I bought a new, cheap pair of needle nose pliers. Clean them. Then crush the whole tube to the base and remove from tank. I had 30-40 and now have none that I can see for well over 6 months.

Ahhh yes I will definitely do that!! Cuz I’m seeing more and more every day :/

For the algae,

Can you tell me which test kits you use for nitrates and phosphates.

Have you tried manually removing the algae with your fingers? Is it slimy?

Have you tried a toothbrush to scrub it off and the suck it out with a turkey baster?

For the phosphates I’m using the Hannah checker for nitrates I’m using API
I did remove some of the algea with my nails. Especially the ones on my coral plugs but not on my rock. No it actually just feels like hair not slimy though

Hey! You might want to consider getting an urchin, it doesn't see like you have too much nutrients, alge will grow it just happens. If you get something that eats it it will control it for you so you don't have to break out a toothbrush and scrub! Doesn't look like briopsis to me but I could Be wrong

Thanks I’ll look into that. Haven’t really researched much about urchins but I’ll definitely check them out thank you! I hope it’s not briopsis. It looks very familiar but it’s so hard to tell

If it is briopsis a urchin wont really help you... BUT you can treat it with something like this https://bryopsisfluconazole.com/. I haven't used this Specific product but i have used a pill that someone gave me and it KILLED ALL OF IT! I battled for a long time and one day I used some of this stuff and gone...... I was so mad I hadn't done it earlier. I didn't have any until I bought a large frag of birds nest off someone, it started in one spot and slowly spread. The algae in your tank doesn't really look like Briopsis but if starts growing feathers id get some Fluconazole

Awesome thank you! Yeah I’ll keep an eye on it and try and keep my parameters in check see if it’ll go away. Now I did see a small feather looking thing recently and it actually retracted when I got close to check it out. I saw it just once and rubbed in the area I saw it. It was close to a coral so I took it out and dipped it. Are those little feathers bad? Or a sign of briopsis?

Sounds like a small feather duster, they are cool and you shouldn't have a problem with them. Briopsis won't retract or anything, its just a feathery looking plant

I had turf algae in my last tank. Like briopsis, nothing eats it.

I used fluconazole as well and it was gone for good.

I think since maintain good parameters, you will be fine to use it.

Just follow the instructions carefully.
