So I have been reef keeping for about 6 years now but I think I have just made a big mistake that may risk it all. I was at a friends house and floated a bag of coral I might to keep the coral happy as I had to be there for a little while. I then went home and floated the same bag in my tank to then soon let the coral into my tank. Well I found out that my friends tank had a velvet out break about a week ago. How likely is it that I just seeded velvet into my reef? Keep in mind the bag went from his tank to my tank in about a hours time.

It's possible but I believe there is a free swimming stage to velvet but I've read that the free swimming stage is at night. I could be wrong but i'd use this time to start getting a quarantine system set up to be proactive. If you do end up getting velvet you won't have long to jump in and start treating. Read up on the signs and check the fish often often
