I had one do this after about 6 weeks of it being happy in my tank, dipped in lugols solution for 15min and then placed it under a frag rack that got minimal light. It stayed like that for about a month and then I finally saw some regrowth. From what I’d been told it only had about a 50% chance. ☹

Oh ok 50%? That really sucks I’ll give the lugols solution a try. Do you know why it would do this or if it has a infection or something what it’s called?

When I went back to who I bought it from they told me it could had been a number of things. Most likely damaged tissue from importing that got infected, and took the 6 weeks I had it to fully manifest to where it was. The combination of stress and likely damage during transport mixed with the stress of a new environment seemed rather believable. I no longer mess with imported corals for a number of reasons, that being one of them.

how long have you had it and when did the flesh start receding?

Yeah I have had mine for a good 4 months but I did move him to I different spot in the tank about a week or two ago but I quickly moved him back a few days later because it didn’t appear to be happy.

Dang, I’d definitely give the logols a try with low light and low flow. I’ve had strange things bounce back with that combo. Good luck

I wouldn't do a dip I would let it settle from being moved around infact feed it tonite! dipping is stressful doesn't look infected but if you had it in a spot for 2 weeks where it wasn't happy not inflating getting nutrients it most like need some energy

I actually would advise against feeding it. If it’s receding that badly the stress from trying to digest the food could kill it or the food could rot inside of it and kill it. I would move it to low light/low flow and hope for the best

taking it out an adding a few mls of reef energy in a cup will not cause gut rot

I thought you meant like feed it feed it :). I feed mine huge chunks of fish food or pellets. Something like that would definitely kill it. I don’t thing AB+ or something similar would be bad but I also don’t think it would help a whole lot. To me, this looks like the kind of reaction I’d see with a poorly shipped coral or a scoly in flow that’s too high

Yeah, I think it's a bit too much flow for the little guy. Ill move him and then see hows he's doing. Thanks guys!

What’s your nitrate and phosphates ?

had a issue with my scoly my nitrates were almost at 0. Increased to 5 and it began to plump up almost immediately.
