Help... I used a dirty sock

So today I by accidentally put a dirty sock into my tank. My skimmer then overflowed and one of my hammers and my finger leathers are dying other corals in tank look mostly fine. I don’t have the ability to do a big water change so I’ll do a series of small 10g ones. My tank is 220g

Are you saying that you put a filter sock back in that you'd already taken out but hadn't yet washed? If so, how long had it been since you had taken it out? Was it still damp?

Seems like it must not have been too dirty if you didn't notice it. My filter socks are always pretty disgusting looking/smelling when I take them out. Probably do the WC as you said and hope for the best. Good luck!

It was actually my dad who did it. It seems it may have had soap in it or hadn’t been fully washed out

If this is the case I would run some carbon to help remove any contaminants. Don’t rush the water changes. Make sure your salinity, alk and temp match. I have rushed and made mistakes before in this hobby in an attempt to actually fix the tank. Lol

Soap?!? Never use soap on filter socks... Bleach (unscented plain old bleach) only, rinse thoroughly and let air dry for a few days. I'd throw away any others that have had soap on them.

Ok so it wasn’t soap he used bleach and tap water and let it dry in the sun to rid of the chlorine. But there was some soaplike residue left over from the chlorine

Shouldn't be anything soapy left from bleach unless maybe it was lemon or flower scented. Maybe add a few drops of dechlorinator to tank just in case.

I already used a capful of brightwell cl-erase

I do use a bit of detergent along with bleach when I clean my filter socks. But I then run them through the wash 3 more cycles without detergent or bleach, each time with an extra rinse and then let them air dry for 3 days before using them. Been doing this for 5 years now and doesn't seem to cause any problems.
