Does anyone know what this is? Some of them are growing to around 6 inches or so. I've searched Google and everywhere and can't find anything that looks like it. It's not chaeto which was one of my first thoughts.

Probably just some kind of thread algae/hair algae. Is it green? You should be able to manually remove it with a toothbrush. Also, most cleanup crew members should devour that in no time.

It is green, I've got a ton of different snails and they aren't touching it, trying to stay away from crabs. I'm currently running fallow due to Marine velvet, I'm hoping once I get a couple tangs in there they clean it up, but they are starting to spread quickly now. It doesn't seem to be bothering any coral as of yet.
