I have been getting different answers, and I really want to know. If it is a Blue Tang, what type?

Sorry for crappy cell pic.

I would go with an Atlantic Blue tang (Acanthurus coeruleus). I have a 2" who still has his juvi colors all yellow except the highlights on his fins. Im guessing yours is in the transition to having his full blown adult colors(they say it happens at a young age in these fish compared to others. Some are known to keep there yellow tails from what ive read while others will change completely blue/purple.

Thanks for the advice. I was thrown by the tail. I knew it was a blue Tang, but wasn't sure which one. I would love it if he kept the yellow tail.

You may get lucky! Some do! Diving in Aruba 95 percent of the full grown adults i saw were solid blue/purple but i did see a handful that kept the yellow into adulthood! Nice fish you've got there!

Thank. He is looking good.

The funny thing is, I went to Petco just to pick up some filter padding for my sump. And I saw him in thier tank. He was so very white and sad. I just couldn't leave him there. It made me feel bad. I got him home and after drip acclimating him, I got him into my QT. I sat around and watched him for a few hours. Then when he seemed really active, I put a mixture of brine shrimp and algae together, and to my surprise he started eating. And after a few days he was a pig and his color started coming back.

I put him in my Display a couple days ago and is looking beautiful. I guess he is happy in his new home. It is funny where you may find a new friend.
